Dixon Nacey is a guitarist based in Auckland, New Zealand, whose 24 year music career has seen him perform with some of New Zealand’s top jazz & pop musicians as a backing artist and session player.
His guitar can be heard on a variety of albums and he teaches jazz and regularly hosts guitar workshops throughout the country. Notable pop and jazz artists he has been fortunate enough to perform with include :
Alma Micic (USA), Matt Penman (USA), David Friesen (USA), Larry Ransome (USA), Denise Perrier (USA), Andy Irvine (USA), Andrew Dickeson (Aus), Natalie Dietz (Aus), Michel and Shem Benebig (New Caledonia) Nathan Haines, King Kapisi, Tama Waipara, Annie Crummer, Whirimako Black, Ria Hall, Tami Nielson, Julia Deans, Anna Coddington.
He has recorded three albums (2008, 2011, 2013) with the ‘Samsom Nacey Haines Trio’, the first of which was a finalist in the 2009 Jazz Tui of The Year Award.
He also leads The John Scofield Project, plays jazz with The Alan Brown trio, funk soul with CMC and has recently been through USA, Canada, New Caledonia, Singapore, Fiji, The Cook Islands and Thailand with his music.
