I have been intrigued with the Neve® console preamp design ever since I saw Sound City.
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lead Zeppelin, Neil Young, Satriani + many others have all utilised the Neve® preamp to color their tones or cranked the console’s input for some all out dirt.
After finding some of Rupert Neve’s original schematics, we started to work on the Neve® 1073’s preamp module.
Our ’73 Preamplifier™ solely focuses on the 1073’s preamp module, as this is where we believe all the mojo happens.
The design has also been carefully modified to work specifically with guitar and bass.
Control :
Pre : This controls the amount of gain from clean through to dirty. We have designed this control to have a wider range of clean through to dirty tones than the original.
Cut : This shaves off fine amounts of top end, from crystal clear to smooth.
Post : Output volume control, there is massive amounts of volume here!!
This unit can serve as a VERY nice clean booster, a rich Overdrive or even a Fuzz pedal.
The versatility and rich sweet coloration this pedal produces, makes it hard to turn off!
Another great feature, is that even though this unit is designed to run on 18VDC it also runs equally as well on 9VDC.
At 9V it sounds a little more compressed and goes to an insane Fuzz when the Pre control is cranked.

This unit must only be powered by a regulated 18-9vdc negative centre (Boss Style) power supply (not included). These units do not take batteries.
